Is learning to play the fiddle/violin hard?

I am interested in learning to play the fiddle/violin and I was wondering if it is hard? I play Native American Flutes, Irish Tin Whistle, I dabble in the Mountain Dulcimer and Lap Harp, I'm in the process of learning guitar and Fife. I love music and the violin/fiddle has always been a favorite of mine. I think with practice and dedication I can do it but just wanted some opinions! Any help would be appreciated. Also what kind would be best for a beginner? Thanks in advance! :)
