Switching chords on guitar?

ya know when your playing basic chrods and your switching them around and your singing songs how do ya dress it up to make your 6 string sound bass like.. like when i switch from a minor to C i can me a open A B note and C to walk up to swtichin to C kinda like that like walk ups and walk down switching to chords if anyone knows what i mean please help me i can read music for fiddle well but im trying to figure good ways to play guitar too ..
