1995 Ford F-150 Bad starter solenoid or ignition causing probleM?

Truck won't start it will click once. Tried jumping, checking battery cables, NADA. I am assuming it is the ignition because the key is hard to get in sometimes and other times it will go in but wont turn unless you fiddle with it. Sometimes have to make sure it is turned just right otherwise it will ding when to door is open and no key in ignition. It will turn to the on position but will not start or try to turn over it just gives a single click. Is it the solenoid gone bad or did the igntion finallly take a crap? Ways we could get this started and home would be great! It quit on me earlier in the week but it started like a half of an hour later when I tried. So confused!
