What kind of camera should I get?

What you're asking for is a dSLR. What your budget can get is either a brand new bridge camera (an advanced point-and-shoot camera) or a secondhand dSLR. What you know right now is just using a point-and-shoot camera. Having all those settings on a dSLR won't automatically get you fabulous pictures. You have to know how to use those settings first.
