What musical instrument should I try next?

I really want to learn to play the fiddle but I don't think I'm going to be able to take lessons anytime soon. I recently discovered the mountain dulcimer and it seems to be a good "pick up and learn" kind of instrument that sounds pretty good too. What are your thoughts?
